Patron Saint of Yacht Rock

09/29/2017

According the Wikipedia, that wondrous online encyclopedia dedicated to supplying the online world with essential definitions and explanations of anything your heart could desire, defines Yacht Rock as such:

In the musical sense, yacht rock refers to the highly polished brand of soft rock that emanated from Southern California between 1976 and 1984. The term is meant to suggest the kind of smooth, mellow music that early yuppies likely enjoyed while sipping champagne and snorting cocaine on their yachts. Significant yacht rockers include Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross, and Toto.

Now that summer is officially over, we have to wait another year for the awesomeness that is Yacht Rock to return on satellite radio.

I received a group text last night with grumblings and mumblings about how sad it was going to be this fall without the sound of Michael McDonald grooving every fourth song.

So, this is for you, JH.  Enjoy it now because it's going to be a long winter.
