Listening Room

Listen and Learn...

Listen, enjoy and maybe walk away with a little love for something new.  This is a place to hear old favorites or new grooves.  We're going to showcase a little bit of everything.  The world doesn't spin on one album alone.  Please search out these artists and pay them tribute by heading to the record store and picking up a copy of their musical souls.  Consider this a musical library.  Without the Dewey Decimal system.

Go Let it In

Paint no illusion, try to click with whatcha got
Taste every potion cos if yer like yerself a lot
Go let it out, go let it in, go let it out
Life is precocious in a most perculiar way

She go let it out, she go let it in, she go let it out...

I was raised on bluegrass and country. Bill Monroe, Hank Williams, Sr., George Jones. The classics. This song takes me back to that place. A place with no responsibility. It's a fun song and Ricky Skaggs is amazingly talented. Uncle Pen may have played a fiddle, but Ricky Skaggs can make it talk, make it sing.

"Why Can't We Be Friends?" is a song by the funk band War for their 1975 studio album of the same name. The song has a simple structure, with the phrase "Why can't we be friends?" being sung four times after each two-line verse amounting to over forty times in under four minutes. The song reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the summer of 1975....

Music and film goes hand in hand. I love when music is perfectly set to a scene and it takes over. It brings you in to the feelings of the characters. Nothing quite describes it like this scene from Ocean's Eleven, set to one of my favorite pieces by Debussy. Enjoy.

David & David (a.k.a. David Baerwald and David Ricketts) only recorded and released one album, 1986's Boomtown, which got critical raves and went gold. It was as close to a masterful work of adult-oriented pop as anyone has ever created, including Steely Dan, the Band or Todd Rundgren. With a stellar backing band, they did this one album, propelled...

At the age of three, Davis began his career in vaudeville with his father and Will Mastin as the Will Mastin Trio, which toured nationally. After military...

It Pleases Me

This cover by Hannah Grace knocks the original out of the ballpark. It's upbeat, it's sexy, it's got a cool vibe and you can dance to it. I'll give it a 75.
